Karina is a London-based Sashiko artist and stylist with Japanese and Welsh roots. She studied costume design and gained valuable experience working on numerous theatre productions, including the English National Opera.
She later transitioned into the fashion industry, where her unique background in costume design informed her styling work for prestigious publications such as Vogue Japan and Vogue Italia.

The unexpected pause caused by the pandemic led to a reconnection with Sashiko and Boro, traditional Japanese hand-sewing techniques originally used to reinforce clothing. Karina's creative journey soon evolved beyond textiles as she began experimenting with natural elements like fallen leaves, twigs, and stones, merging the organic with the crafted. While she occasionally styles for fashion shoots, her primary focus is on pushing the artistic boundaries of Sashiko and Boro.
